Washington Park Condos Postponed

Plans for two eight story towers of luxury condominiums at Washington Park at the corner of Washington and Bower Hills Road in Mt. Lebanon have been put on hold by developer Zamagias Properties. The condos were expected to start at $350,000 with most units priced around $400,000.
The property was at the heart of a controversial tax increment financing proposal in 2007. At that time, the developers predicted construction would start in Autumn 2007. Now, Mt. Lebanon municipal commissioners have granted a twelve month extension on the construction deadline, as Zamagias cited poor sales prospects for the project in the current economic climate. The Mt. Lebanon condo project by developer Michael Zamagias at Washington Road and Bower Hill Road took a substantial step forward this past week when Mt. Lebanon commissioners approved TIF funding by a 4-1 vote. Prices of the units will range from $290,000 to $1.1 million.
